Sven Wechsler moved to New York City to pursue a career in comedy. While working on his next joke, he needed to pay the bills. He bought a van and became a “man-with-a-van”, doing small moves all over the city. New Yorkers move a lot, always looking for the next best apartment, so business boomed. Sven hired his artist friends to help with the work load. Soon the crew of painters, writers, comedians and musicians were moving people up and down the East Coast.

Carrying cardboard boxes up and down stairs all day often leaves the mind free to wander, and Sven saw an opportunity to get involved with supplying moving boxes to customers, but cardboard just seemed like a big waste. A little research led him to this business idea, rentable plastic boxes. Started in the summer of 2011 (which is still going on, depending on when you’re reading this), RENTABOX is optimistic that the public will embrace this concept in the New York City area.

Sven is also getting very good at writing in the third person about himself and his businesses. His employees are all still artists. Thanks for reading!
